Updated: August 11, 2026 — three things changed, and they matter. You must now be 18 to have a Quotesake account (Section 2). The Host of a room may hide or delete a quote in their room, including one someone else wrote — this reverses our previous rule (Section 6). And voice recording is now restricted: you may record yourself or a child you are responsible for, and never another adult (Section 12). The rest of these terms were expanded and reorganized at the same time.

Updated: August 18, 2026 — the free tier changed, in your favour. A free room may now have as many people in it as you like, in any role, and inviting them is free (Sections 5 and 16); this replaces the previous limit of you plus one Co-Owner. A room is covered by the person who hosts it, and helping run a room neither covers it nor costs the helper anything (Sections 5 and 16). If you host a room and leave it, you are now asked who should take it on, and that person becomes its host only if they accept (Section 8). And we have said plainly what happens when a subscription ends: nothing is deleted, one room stays open for new quotes, and your other rooms stay readable indefinitely (Section 16).

Updated: August 19, 2026 — the roles changed, in your favour. “Co-Owner” is now “Co-Host”, and “Owner” is now “Host” — nobody owns a room, they host it and can hand it on. Every room may have one Co-Host, free, on any plan (Sections 5 and 16); a co-host helps run the room but cannot remove a member or delete a person from the roster, which stay with the Host because they cannot be undone. Becoming a Co-Host is now an invitation — the person named has to accept (Section 5). And a subscription covers the rooms you host, never somebody else’s (Section 16).

Updated: August 21, 2026 — three things. These terms said a quote starts as “Just me”. It does not, and has not for some time: a new quote is set to everyone in the room you are in, and you narrow it to a Circle or to “Just me” before you save. Every quote is asked afresh, so one choice never carries over to the next (Section 5). Section 21 now says what happens to a room you host when you close your account — you are asked who should take it on, the same as leaving one, and your answer is acted on at the end of the 30 days rather than straight away. And the word “owner” has been replaced with “Host” throughout, finishing the rename of August 19 — nobody owns a room, they host it. Where these terms still say “ownership”, that is about your ownership of what you write, which is unchanged.

Welcome to Quotesake. By accessing or using our app or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully. Quotesake is published by 3L Ideas, INC (“Quotesake,” “we,” “us”).

The short version

Quotesake is a place for adults to keep the things the people they love say — most often their own young children. You must be 18 to have an account. The people being quoted do not have accounts. Every quote you write goes to the room you are in unless you say otherwise before you save it — you can narrow it to a Circle, or keep it to yourself, and you are asked afresh every time. You keep ownership of what you write. You are responsible for having the right to record and share what you enter, and there are things you may not record at all — most importantly, another adult’s voice. The person who hosts a room is responsible for what is in it and may remove something inappropriate. We do not sell personal information and we show no ads.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Quotesake, you agree to comply with and be legally bound by these Terms of Use, by our Privacy Policy, and by all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our app.

2. Who can use Quotesake

You must be at least 18 years of age to create or hold a Quotesake account. By creating an account you represent that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to register, and we will close an account we learn belongs to a minor.

Children are not users of Quotesake. Children do not have accounts, do not sign in, and do not enter anything themselves. Every piece of information in Quotesake is entered by an adult account holder. This is deliberate — it is what keeps a child’s information under the control of the adult responsible for them.

This replaces our previous language, which said you had to be at least 13 with a parent’s permission if under 18. That no longer applies.

3. Your account

You are responsible for your login and for everything done under your account. Keep your credentials secure and tell us at hello@quotesake.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.
You may register with an email address and password, or sign in with Apple or Google. If you use single sign-on, we store no password for you.
Give accurate information and keep it current. One person, one account — do not share an account or let someone else use yours.

4. What Quotesake is

Quotesake lets you write down and keep quotes — the things a person said — with optional context, a short back-and-forth, a photograph, or a voice recording. You can organize quotes by person, share them with people you choose, and order printed Quote Books. Some features require a paid Quotesake+ plan.

5. Rooms, roles, and members

Quotesake is organized into rooms. A room is a group of people and the quotes they keep together — your family, your friends, your workplace, an event, or another group you choose. Each room keeps its own people, quotes, and books, and nothing crosses between them.

You may create a room or join one you are invited to. Every member holds a role — Host, Co-Host, Contributor, or Viewer — which governs what they can do. A room may have any number of members, in any role.
The Host runs the room, and hosting is what is paid for. Their subscription covers that room for everyone in it. A Co-Host’s own subscription, if they have one, does not cover somebody else’s room — it covers the rooms they host themselves.
A room may have one Co-Host, free, on any plan. A Co-Host helps run the room day to day: inviting people, adding and renaming people, and creating Circles. They cannot remove a member, delete a person from the roster, or turn off the room’s invite link — those remain the Host’s alone, because they cannot be undone by the person who set the room up.
Becoming a Co-Host is an invitation, not an appointment. The Host asks; the person named becomes a Co-Host only if they accept. Being responsible for a room, and for the people and children recorded in it, is not something anyone acquires without agreeing to it.
Who sees a quote is the author’s choice, and only the author’s. Each quote is set to everyone in the room (the default), one or more Circles — smaller named groups inside a room — or “Just me”. Everyone invited into a room can see what is shared with the room; a Circle only ever narrows that further. Every quote is asked fresh, so a choice you make on one quote never carries over to the next — narrowing one to “Just me” cannot silently narrow the one after it, and widening one cannot silently widen it.
Roles govern what you can do, not what you can see. Host, Co-Host, Contributor and Viewer all see the same thing — whatever has been shared with them. A room’s Host has no additional visibility and cannot see a quote another member shared to a Circle they are not in.
You control the quotes you wrote. You may edit any quote you wrote, delete it, or change who sees it, at any time. No one else can ever edit your words or change your audience — the one exception, a room’s Host taking a quote down from their own room, is Section 6, and even then your words are never edited.
There is no public option, no directory of users, and nothing in Quotesake is indexed by search engines.

6. What a room’s Host can do about someone else’s quote

Changed August 11, 2026. This reverses our previous rule.

Two different people are involved in this section, and which is which matters:

The author — the person who wrote the quote. They chose its words and chose who could see it.
The room’s Host — the person who created and runs the room the quote was shared into. In the app their role is shown as Host. Nobody owns a room; they host it, pay for it, and can hand it on.

In the ordinary case these are two different people, and the Host never touches the author’s quote. This section is only about the exception: a Host taking down something someone else wrote that they judge inappropriate for their room. A room’s Host is the one person responsible for it, and someone running an event room with forty guests needs a way to take something down without emailing us.

The Host of a room may hide or delete any quote in that room, including one written by a Contributor or a Co-Host.

This belongs to the room’s Host only — not a Co-Host, not a Contributor, not a Viewer.
Hiding removes the quote from the room’s view. It stays with the person who wrote it.
Deleting sends the quote to the author’s Trash — not the Host’s — where it waits the normal 30 days, and the author, not the Host, can restore it.
A restored quote comes back private — visible to the author alone — rather than re-shared to the room. The author keeps their memory; the Host’s decision about their room stands.
The Host never takes ownership of the author’s quote. Removing it from the room gives the Host no copy of it and destroys nothing belonging to the author. The Host can never edit anyone’s words.
A Host can only act on what they can see. Nothing here gives a Host extra visibility — they cannot see, and so cannot hide or delete, a quote shared to a Circle they are not in.
Hiding or deleting a quote does not change a Quote Book that has already been printed or is already being made.

Until August 11, 2026 these terms said only the author could delete a quote — not a room’s Host, not a Co-Host, and not us. That is no longer accurate as to a room’s Host. We still cannot edit the words you wrote.

7. Sending a quote out of the app

Sending a quote out of Quotesake — as a shareable image, to a message, to social media, or to your camera roll — requires the Contributor role or above, plus the quote’s own author. Someone invited as a Viewer may read what is shared with them but may not export it, so a view-only guest cannot produce a shareable card carrying a child’s name and photograph.

Someone who wrote quotes as a Contributor and was later made a Viewer keeps the right to share their own words. Anyone who can see a quote can still take a screenshot, as with any photo on a phone; what we control is that the app itself does not hand a finished card to someone who should not be passing a child’s words around.

8. Leaving a room

You may leave any room at any time, including one you created. When you leave, you choose whether the quotes you wrote stay with the room or are deleted. Quotes written by other people are never affected.
Leaving a room also removes you from its Circles, so being invited back later does not silently restore your previous access.
Nobody inherits a room. A room continues for the people still in it and closes only when its last member leaves.
If you host a room and leave it, you are asked who should take it on. You may name one member, or choose to leave the room read-only. Whoever you name is asked, and becomes its host only if they accept — nobody is given a room, or the responsibility for its plan, without agreeing to it. If you name no one, or the person you name declines, the room becomes read-only and is not offered to anyone else.
A read-only room is readable, not deleted. Everyone still in it keeps every quote, photograph and recording and can read them indefinitely; nothing new can be added to it.
A host who is staying may also offer their room to another member. The same rule applies: it changes hands only if that person accepts.

9. Your content and the rights you grant

You retain ownership of the content — quotes, context, photographs, recordings — you submit to Quotesake. However, by saving content to our servers, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and display anonymized versions of the content (for example, quotes with first names only) for marketing, social media, and promotional purposes. We will never display last names or other personally identifiable information in public use without explicit consent, and we do not use your photographs or voice recordings for marketing.

You also grant us the license we need to run the service: to host, store, process, display and — when you order a book — print and ship your content, solely to provide Quotesake to you and to the people you choose to share with. You are responsible for the content you enter, including having the right to record it, keep it, and share it with the audience you choose.

10. Quoting a child

You may add a child’s information only if you are that child’s parent or legal guardian, or an adult family member acting with the parent’s permission.
You will not enter information about a child you have no right to document.
We ask for as little as possible: a first name is enough. We never require a child’s last name, birthdate, or photograph.

11. Quoting another adult

Quotesake also lets you keep quotes from adults you know — a grandparent, a friend, a coworker. When you do:

You represent that you have the right to save that person’s words and, where you add them, their photograph and name, and to share that content with the audience you choose.
You may not record their voice. See Section 12.
You will not use Quotesake to keep or share statements in a way that harasses, defames, or invades the privacy of the person quoted.
If a person you quoted objects, you are expected to resolve it, and we may remove content or suspend accounts in response to a complaint.

12. Voice recordings — an important restriction

Changed August 11, 2026.

A voice recording made in Quotesake may capture you, or a child you are responsible for. It may never capture another adult.

This is not “another adult with their permission.” It is a rule. The one-time in-app confirmation that used to sit in front of recording an adult has been removed, because the answer is no longer “confirm and carry on” — it is that the app does not do this.

Why. Recording a person without their consent is illegal in a number of U.S. states — California, Washington, Florida, Illinois and Pennsylvania among them — and elsewhere. Asking you to promise you had permission was not a real protection: the app was still the instrument, and a checkbox does not make an unlawful recording lawful. Taking the capability away takes the risk away with it.

What this does not change. Recording a child you are responsible for is untouched — a four-year-old’s line in their own voice is the heart of Quotesake and stays exactly as it is. Quoting an adult in writing is also fine; you may write down what your grandmother said. It is the audio capture of another adult that is not allowed. If another adult’s voice is picked up incidentally in the background of a recording, delete the recording.

You remain responsible for complying with the recording laws that apply where you are. Nothing here is legal advice about them.

13. Photographs

You may attach a photograph to a quote on a paid plan. You must have the right to take, keep, and share it — including the permission of any adult in the photo, and of the parent or guardian of any child in it who is not your own. Before you share a photo-quote to a Circle, the app asks you to acknowledge one time that people you share with can pass it on.

14. Prohibited use

You agree not to:

Use the app for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any recording, privacy, publicity, or child-protection law
Submit content that violates the rights of others
Enter another person’s words, photograph, or voice without the right to do so, or record another adult’s voice
Enter information about a child you have no authority to document
Harass, threaten, defame, or harm anyone, or invade anyone’s privacy
Upload content that is obscene, hateful, or that sexualizes or endangers a child
Try to reach another room’s data, another person’s account, or any part of our systems you are not authorized to reach
Reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or otherwise compromise the integrity of the app or its services
Abuse referral points, promotions, trials, or refunds

15. Reporting, and what we do about it

Any member can report a quote to us, and any user can block another user, which hides that person’s content from them. We may remove content or suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or the law, or where we reasonably believe someone is at risk of harm. Child-safety reports come first. Where it is lawful and safe to do so, we will tell the affected account holder what we did and why.

Apart from a room Host’s moderation (Section 6) and this section, we do not read, curate, or edit the content in your rooms.

16. Quotesake+, the free trial, and billing

Quotesake has a free tier and a paid Quotesake+ plan. New accounts start with a 7-day free trial of full Quotesake+; on day 7 you choose to keep Quotesake+ or move to the free tier.
What the free tier includes. One room that stays open for new quotes, with as many people in it as you like, in any role; one Co-Host to help you run it; unlimited written quotes; your own Monthly Recaps; and a discount on printed books. Inviting people is free, and joining a room is always free for the person joining.
What Quotesake+ adds. Every room you host open at the same time; Circles; photographs and voice recordings on new quotes; sharing your Monthly Recaps; quote carousels; and a larger discount on printed books.
Which room stays open is chosen once. If you host more than one room and move to the free tier, you choose which one remains open for new quotes. That choice is not switchable — opening another room again requires Quotesake+. If the room you chose is later deleted or handed to somebody else, you choose again, so that you are never left without an open room.
Quotesake+ is $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year in the United States. Prices elsewhere are set for your region and shown in the App Store before you confirm.
Billing is through your Apple App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged within 24 hours before renewal.
Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period. Subscription refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies — we cannot issue them.
A subscription belongs to you, not to a room. It covers the rooms you host, and when you host a room everyone in it gets the paid features there without paying anything themselves. It does not extend to a room somebody else hosts — helping run their room neither covers it nor costs you anything. Your own photographs and voice recordings travel with you on the quotes you write, wherever you write them.
The discount on printed books follows the person buying the book, not the room they are in.
If a subscription lapses, nothing is deleted. On the free tier you keep one room open for new quotes. Every other room you host becomes read-only: you and everyone in it can still open it and read every quote, photograph and recording in it, indefinitely — you simply cannot add anything new there, and Circles pause, until you subscribe again.
Photographs and voice recordings already saved stay saved and remain playable if a subscription lapses. The limit applies only to adding new ones.
We may change prices. Changes apply to future renewal periods and are disclosed in advance as the App Store requires.

17. Printed Quote Books

Printed books are one-time purchases processed by Stripe and printed and shipped by our partner Lulu. You provide a shipping address; prices, taxes, and shipping are shown at checkout before you confirm. Printed colors and trim may vary slightly from the on-screen preview within normal printing tolerances. Production begins quickly, so an order generally cannot be changed or cancelled once placed — if something arrives damaged or misprinted, write to us at hello@quotesake.com and we will make it right. You are responsible for the content of the book you order.

18. Referral points

Points earned for referrals or in-app actions have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold, or redeemed for cash, and may be applied toward book purchases according to the rules shown in the app. We may adjust, expire, or revoke points for abuse or error, and may change the program.

19. Intellectual property

The Quotesake app, name, logos, designs, templates, and software are ours or our licensors’. These terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the app as intended, and no other rights. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

If you believe content in Quotesake infringes your copyright, write to hello@quotesake.com identifying the work and the material, with your contact details and a statement of good-faith belief. We will respond as the law requires and may remove content and end the accounts of repeat infringers.

20. Third-party services

Quotesake relies on other companies — Apple and Google for sign-in, Apple for subscriptions, Stripe for book payments, Lulu for printing and shipping, and the others named in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those services is subject to their terms. We choose them carefully and hold them to contracts, but we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

21. Deleting your content and your account

Deletion is not immediate, on purpose.

Anything you delete in the app — a quote, a person, a Circle, a carousel, a book — waits in a Trash for 30 days, where you can restore it, and each item shows the days it has left. After 30 days it is permanently erased, photographs and voice recordings included.
A quote a room’s Host deleted from their room goes to the author’s Trash — yours, if you wrote it — on the same 30-day clock, and the author can restore it. It comes back private (Section 6).
Deleting your account is scheduled with a 30-day grace period. Nothing is touched during it, and simply signing back in cancels the deletion. After 30 days your account and anything you kept privately are permanently erased.
If you host a room with other people in it, you are asked who should take it on — the same question as leaving one (Section 8). You may name one member, or choose no one. Whoever you name is asked, and becomes the room’s Host only if they accept; nobody is given a room, or the responsibility for its plan, without agreeing to it. If you name no one, or the person you name declines, the room becomes read-only: everyone in it keeps every quote, photograph and recording and can read them indefinitely, and nothing new can be added.
Your answer is recorded when you ask to delete and acted on at the end of the 30 days, not before — so nothing happens to anybody else’s room while you can still change your mind, and signing back in discards the answer along with the deletion. A room with nobody else in it simply closes with your account (Section 8).
Quotes you shared into a room stay with that room for the people still in it, with your name removed from them, because others have been keeping them as their own memories.

22. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that a printed product will exactly match an on-screen preview. Quotesake is not a backup service — keep your own copies of anything you cannot bear to lose. Nothing here excludes a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quotesake and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or emotional distress arising out of your use or inability to use the app.

24. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 3L Ideas, INC and its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, or expense arising from your content, your use of the app, your breach of these terms or of any law, and any claim that you lacked the right or consent to enter another person’s information — a child’s or an adult’s — or to record their voice or likeness.

25. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. We update the date at the top of this page and communicate material changes in the app or by email before they take effect.

26. If you got the app from the App Store

These additional terms apply when you obtain Quotesake through Apple’s App Store, and they prevail over anything inconsistent above:

These terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
Your license is a non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service, including Family Sharing where applicable.
Maintenance and support are ours, not Apple’s — reach us at hello@quotesake.com.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims are our responsibility.
Product liability, regulatory, and consumer-protection claims about the app are our responsibility, not Apple’s, as are third-party intellectual-property claims.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on a U.S. Government prohibited-parties list.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
